Client guests, including civic parties from the boroughs of Poole and Bournemouth, enjoyed Farley & Thompson’s summer concert on a sunny evening in June. This was the third classical event the partnership has hosted and on this occasion guests were invited to enjoy views over Poole Harbour from the Sea Terrace and Waterfront Suite at the RNLI College in Poole.
Some 150 private client and professional partner guests were entertained by Oliver Nelson, violin, Roy Stratford, piano and Annabelle Catley, flute in an enjoyable programme that included the Kreisler Praeludium and Allegro and the Massenet Meditation from “Thais”. The partners were particularly grateful to Richard and Anne Webb of Minns Music in Poole for the provision of a fine Bechstein grand piano.
As is the rewarding custom of the partnership’s yearly invitation, guests were invited to consider offering a donation to Farley & Thompson’s favorite charity. For 2010, the Jigsaw Appeal for Women at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital was a popular choice. Guests most generously supported this important £1.5 million Appeal with donations, including gift aid, of over £4,000. The appeal aims to transform the Women’s Health Unit at the hospital where patients undergo diagnosis and treatment for breast and gynaecological disorders. Among the guests was the chairman of the Jigsaw Appeal committee, Mr Robin Scott who expressed to the guests and the partners his deep gratitude for a delightful evening and for the generosity and support.
Senior Partner, Michael Merridew, shared with the guests that once again the sacrificial giving was overwhelming and he agreed with the partners that the evening had been an outstanding success.
