Farley & Thompson offer Stockbroking Services to support Lawyers and Accountants
Last year two experienced stockbrokers from one of Bournemouth’s most established stock broking firms went ‘on the road’ for 3 months. They visited over 100 law practices and accountancy firms in the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area to highlight how Farley and Thompson’s stockbroking services can support their professional services to clients.
Bob Hipkiss and Martin Poole, with over 35 stock broking years between them, are were so proud of Farley & Thompson’s brand new brochure that they decided to place it directly into the hands of solicitors and accountants rather than sending it in the post.
“We believe that the personal service we offer to Professionals with responsibilities for Trusts is deeply appreciated by our current clients, and, if our ‘roadshow’ is successful, we look forward to widening that circle. The continuing global economic challenge in all markets will be an important aspect of discussions” said Martin Poole.
“We enjoy face to face meetings, and this is how we have built such a bond of trust with our clients over the 70 years Farley & Thompson have been in business in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and across Dorset and Hampshire . Although”, adds Bob, “I personally have not been a stockbroker for quite that long!”
Farley & Thompson’s brochure offers insightful images on its inside cover of share certificates and other paraphernalia from the firm’s large historic file. Great names from the past are illustrated like P&O, Pearl Assurance and Imperial Chemical Industries. The Bournemouth partnership still focuses on the FT Top shares to this day, but as a member of the London Stock Exchange is a 21st century independent firm, trading for its wide portfolio of private investors and professional clients who trust the firm to act for them.

Elsewhere in the brochure, alongside Bob and Martin’s colleague’s personal profiles, are ‘off duty’ photographs taken specifically for the purpose. Both Bob and Martin are AFC Bournemouth fans. Martin Poole comments, “There will be a good deal of discussion around share portfolios at offices over the next three months – but equally – I will be ensuring that prospective clients notice my photo taken on the turf at Dean Court!”
